The NFL trade deadline is about an hour away while I'm typing this and there have been some big moves so far. There have been a couple of surprises, Chase Claypool to the Bears and TJ Hockenson getting traded within his own division being at the top of my respective list. Did anyone see this coming though?
Shocker: The #Falcons are trading WR Calvin Ridley to the #Jaguars, sources say, in exchange for complex draft compensation that can be worth at maximum a 2023 5th rounder and a 2024 2nd rounder. Ridley is suspended through at least the 2022 season. pic.twitter.com/Zk6Yb7U5F3

Insert your choice of "um... okay" gifs here. Why this? Why now? What does the team stand to gain from making a trade at this season's deadline for a guy who can't apply for reinstatement until next year? Is this how we do things in the meth capital of the US?
I know I'm not an NFL GM, but I do know a little something about making a list of priorities. This doesn't feel like it should've been that high on the list.
