Dear Mark Turgeon: I Hate You

    I'm getting really tired of this. I'm tired of being frustrated and disappointed by the teams I grew up loving. Maryland basketball and the Washington Football Team are probably the two most important teams to me. We all know Dan Snyder is ruining the WFT. Well, Mark Turgeon has ruined the Maryland men's basketball program.


    The fuck is this? We have all this talent on our team and you can't beat Virginia Tech? The Terps went 1-13 from 3, a solid 7.7% compared to the Hokies going 9/20 at 45%. I mean for once, the Terps were excellent at the free throw line going 11/11, which should spell victory! They outrebounded Virginia Tech, got more blocks, and fouled less than Tech as well. They just couldn't hit a shot. For example: 

    Good coaching will lead players to improve upon their shooting percentages, or at the very least stay consistent. Bad coaching will lead players to regress. It's that simple. Some people want to say things like, "oh well Turgeon can't shoot the shots for them." While that is correct, it's also a bad choice in argument because a coach you are responsible for developing your talent into better players. If they're not capable of making shots, both against Virginia Tech and against Louisville... and against George Mason, that's on you.

    The man waits until he's in a spot of desperation to make significant changes like running a full-court press. He doesn't utilize his team's speed for fast breaks often enough, although in fairness, some of that does have to do with the opportunity presenting itself and Tech did look well coached defensively, I will give him that, and only that. He can't reign in Fatts Russell from taking dumb shot after dumb shot. It's just a mess. Nothing comes easy to this team when they have the talent available to run over other teams.

    At least he didn't say anything stupid at his press conference this time. Despite that, I still hate Mark Turgeon, and I want him gone.
