The Cowboys are Good... Just Not That Good

 

    It's not secret that the Dallas Cowboys are a much improved team from a year ago. As a fan, I hate it, but as a person with a brain I have to recognize it. Micah Parsons has been an incredible pickup for the defense and Trevon Diggs is a revelation at Cornerback. This has been huge after last year where the defense had the same ability to stop offenses as a wet paper bag trying to hold a rock.

    With all that said, the last few weeks have proven why the Cowboys will not be winning the Super Bowl this year. Losing to Kansas City is normally nothing to get too worried over, the Chiefs are the Chiefs. But only putting up 9 points? I went into that game thinking my fantasy team was going to get killed since I was going up against Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott against a Chiefs defense that hadn't done anything impressive all season. Somehow I ended up winning because the two of them did absolutely nothing all afternoon. The defense did its part, but the offense just couldn't get it together.

    Then, on Thanksgiving, they drop a second straight game, losing to the Raiders in OT. Close game, so nothing to worry about, right? Wrong. The Raiders have gone into their annual tailspin, their coach was (deservedly) forced to resign, and their biggest deep threat is (deservedly) in jail for thinking the roads of Vegas were a NASCAR track. This game should've been a layup for Prescott and the Cowboys, but while the offense was doing what they needed to, the defense couldn't keep it together.

    Also, let's not forget the absolute ass-whooping that Denver laid on them a few weeks ago.

    The Cowboys are a very good team. More than good enough to win the infuriatingly mediocre NFC East. I would be shocked if they didn't. But when it comes down to it, the bright lights and big game feelings are enough that they just can't seem to put it together. There's been enough evidence to show that these are just the same old Cowboys we've had for the last few decades. They look really good on paper, but when the pressure comes, they'll ultimately fold.
