Yes, I'm writing this before tonight's Monday Night Football game, and I don't care. It would not shock me for Seattle to lose tonight's game to the Team, and continue their tumultuous season. While everyone has been saying "let Russ cook," every time he tries he barely even reaches a simmer.
The Seahawks are stuck right now, and they need a complete overhaul. They won't get there with Wilson because even when the rest of the team is awful, he's good enough to pull out enough wins that will force the Seahawks into a bad draft position; that is, if they even had draft picks to begin with. Pete Carroll has pissed away pick after pick for bad trades (Jamal Adams) and players that never translate into anything spectacular. The only reason it hasn't been more noticeable is because of Wilson covering up a lot of blemishes on the roster.
If Wilson decides to stay in Seattle, he's basically stuck with what he currently has with no chance of improving. He's been a good solider for the team, staying 100% loyal up until this past summer where he finally let some of his frustrations come to light. It's time to accept things for what they are and move on. It's the same as a relationship that's hit a stalemate. Trying for a kid or getting a new puppy won't fix it, going separate ways and starting fresh is the best option for everyone.
