If it's not obvious, my title is a joke; a joke like the UConn Huskies football program has been. And now, Jim Mora Jr. is brought in to the be the Savior of Storrs. Or, maybe at least the guy to bring a certain level of competency to the program.
The last anyone heard from Mora as a head coach he was going 46-30 at UCLA. Not great overall, but honestly UConn would be happy to take that. At least that would mean the Huskies are winning games. The team has only managed to beat Yale this year, winning 21-15, an Under bettors best dream. It's ugly up in our nation's 5th state, and Mora has decided for some reason he's the guy to fix things.
Is he the most serious about this gig? I don't know. Is he just looking for a pay day? There's no way he's not. UConn isn't the program you go to if you're looking for glory. In fact, any coach looking to build his career would run and hide from once the 203 area code shows up on their phone. I don't know what Mora's goals are, but I feel like it's very similar to his dad's goal of the past:
