Was I Wrong About Scott Frost?

So, Nebraska lost to Michigan yesterday. Most would think that isn't good, especially with how things have been going in Lincoln recently. I think I'm on the other side of that though, because what I saw is a giant positive for the Cornhuskers.

When I first watched Nebraska this year, they were getting their doors blown off by an awful Illinois team. I was ready to bury Scott Frost and the team as being another doormat of the NCAA. I've heard a lot of talk about how they've been improving over the last few weeks, but I really didn't give it much credence; until yesterday.

When I first started watching the Huskers take on the Wolverines, I admit I was flipping over when Alabama and Texas A&M were on a commercial break. But the more I saw, the more I couldn't help shift my focus over. Nebraska looked.... pretty solid actually. I didn't think they were great, but they were competing, and trading leads with the #9 team in the country. Granted, I think Michigan is a bit overrated at this point in time, but still #9 is #9.

If it weren't for a flukey kind of strip by Michigan's defense, Nebraska had a real shot late in the game to march down the field and snatch a victory away from Jim Harbaugh's team. This tells me one major thing: Scott Frost is finally putting a real stamp on this program.

Think about it. College kids can be talented and look flashy, but what makes them become a cohesive, winning unit is the head coach. If these kids didn't buy into Frost and what he's teaching them, they could've easily fallen apart after their loss to the Illinis. And if we're being honest, could we have blamed them if they did?

So Nebraska isn't back to the way they were in the 90s, but it finally looks like they're going in the right direction. Yesterday was really impressive and they should take this as a good sign, instead of just looking at it as another loss.

Now it's just up to Nebraska's top brass to recognize this and not end his tenure prematurely.
