No seriously, did you actually expect something to happen with the NFL's investigation into the Washington Football Team? I've been a fan of this organization since I was cognizant enough to pick a team to attach my loyalties to, and even I knew better...
Dan Snyder wins again everyone. Not that it comes as a surprise. The man is either the devil or sold his soul to the devil in exchange for complete invulnerability from responsibility. Not only has the product he has produced been utter garbage from the moment he signed the purchase papers, but the team's front office is as much the shit show as one could imagine.
If you had only given the NFL a cursory glance over the last two decades, would you be surprised to hear about the Club Formerly Known as the Racial Epithets having a culture of sexual harassment (and probable misconduct) towards women's employees? What if I added in the owner of the team (allegedly) exploiting his own cheerleaders to participate in sketchy photoshoots for his own pleasure and benefit? Oh, and top it off with the cherry that apparently nobody in the office was either capable, or had enough balls to say the word "no" to the man on anything. Would you be surprised?
Of course you wouldn't. Because you're not a moron.
Now, take all of that, and throw in an NFL investigation into the allegations, that frankly seemed pretty damning with no way around it. What would you say if I told you that the investigation did not end in a detailed, written report on their findings, but rather an oral report with nothing physical to refer back to instead? What if I then added that the punishment for the owner of said team, a $10mil fine, is basically a drop in the bucket to him? That's right, no suspensions, no loss of draft picks nothing of real substance.
I mean, what can I even say to this? I knew this would be the result of the investigation... if you really want to call it that. The owners of the NFL don't give a damn what Daniel Snyder does, they only care about setting a precedent that won't come back to bite them in the ass should something similar come to their front door. But how obvious does it have to be that if you have an office that actually treats employees with a base level of human decency and respect that this won't happen?
Actually, it doesn't matter, because they don't care. They're a bunch of rich old dudes (minus the new guy in Carolina who replaced the owner for, wait for it......... sexual harassment and misconduct) who care more about their wallets than they do other people. Protect the shield of the NFL and this will all blow over. Always has, and always will if things stay how they are.
Problem is, I know I'm still going to watch the WFT and pull for them to win. I'm part of the problem, and I feel utterly filthy about it. But if Dan Snyder gets his win, then I can at least hope that the players who had nothing to do with this can get their own wins as well.
