I would like to personally thank Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers signed a contract extension today, woohoo! Honestly, I don't really care that he's staying in Green Bay; I also wouldn't care if he were moving to a different city or retiring. What I'm happy about is he made a decision without taking all summer to do so.

Whether Rodgers is willing to admit it or not, he realized what last year was going to do to his legacy and how people thought about him. I don't think he wanted to follow in the same footsteps as Brett Favre and be exactly like the guy who was his rival when he was meant to be his mentor. There's no denying that Rodgers has an ego, and drawing a comparison line between him and Favre wasn't going to stand. But there's also no denying there was more to it than that.

Frankly, where was Rodgers going to go that was better than Green Bay? The NFC North is in disarray, minus Green Bay. They own the division, and making a move to somewhere like Denver would've been obscenely stupid. Even Washington fans were trying to push for him and I think that would be even dumber than going to Denver. There was no good option for him, at least not in comparison to Green Bay. Is the city, cold boring and devoid of glitz and glam? Yes. Does Rodgers definitely want that in his life? Yes. But the man is smart enough to know a good thing when he's got it and he knows Green Bay is his best option to win another Super Bowl and maintain his legacy.

So thank you, Aaron, for not making us deal with a bunch of media hubbub over what you're going to do and just giving us a straight up answer this time around. I'm glad this is the last time I'll have to listen to people dive into detail about you until the season starts.
