Whelp, we're officially past the time when teams in the NFL are allowed to make trades. I'll admit, if I hadn't been listening to a bunch of shows today, I probably wouldn't have even noticed. The NFL trading deadline is a total snooze fest, and I can't take it anymore.
Everything the NFL does seems to work out; well, most everything at least. It's rare for the league to swing and miss, and when they miss it often gets swept under the rug pretty quick. The one thing that they cannot control, but happens every year, is the trade deadline. In other leagues: NBA and MLB in particular, the trade deadline is full of excitement and intrigue. Players are shifted around and even the smaller players feel like they can make a major impact. At the very least, several storylines come out that will keep us entertained for a solid few days, if not the rest of the season.
The biggest headlines of today were an aging Von Miller being traded to the Rams, and a play not being traded in Deshaun Watson. The Von Miller news was fun, largely because it was unexpected, but he's on the back end of his career, and he'll quickly be lost amongst the many stars in LA. It just doesn't do it for me. As for Watson, we already knew what was likely to happen here, as every NFL reporter has been on this story for what feels like forever.
What could be a fun, crazy day for the NFL and their fans honestly looks more like this:
