So everyone with a pulse in the sports world knows about the recent scandal involving Jon Gruden and his emails where he's a complete and total jerk (putting it mildly).
I feel like a lot of people have keyed in on Gruden because he's such a well known figure in the media, known for a good quote and a bit quirky. I also feel like those same people are doing the "oh, wait, there's more we should probably talk about too," bit when it comes to the emails. Well I don't want to be one of those people. Gruden has been discussed ad nauseum and the focus belongs elsewhere now that he's been canned.
Where does it belong? Once again in the front office of the team I unfortunately attached my loyalties to, the Washington Football Team.
This franchise is no stranger to controversy and things that would get any normal person thrown into jail. But somehow Dan Snyder remains the Teflon Don who cannot, will not die. Everything that has happened has gone last bordering in pure insanity and is now just plain insanity.
Many people may want to say that the emails mentioned came from Bruce Allen and not Snyder, and those same people may also want to say that the feds raided the head athletic trainer, not Snyder. Those very same people may even be the ones saying it's the coaches and players putting out multiple decades of mediocrity on the field, not Snyder.
Those people are idiots.
Nobody is saying they're wrong, but they are flat put morons. All of this has gone on because Snyder is at the helm. Think about the LA Clippers with Donald Sterling. Sterling, clearly a horrible person, spends years running a franchise that was flat out pathetic. Once he was forced out, and Steve Ballmer bought the franchise, they have become unusually relevant. So it's clear that Sterling was the crux of the issue, much like Snyder is.
He has allowed this kind of environment to develop and grow, without having a shred of decency to him throughout the process. All of the details are out there for you to find, and I'm not going to run into the weeds on them because it's just not a fun topic.
This needs to be the end of Daniel Snyder as the owner of the Team. He's a horrible person who has never been held accountable for his actions, and has somehow skated by while other scumbag owners (see: Jerry Richardson) took a severe fall from grace as a result of their actions.
Dan Snyder is a scumbag, he acts like a scumbag and surrounds himself with a scumbag. And at this point I'm ok with saying Tanya Snyder is too because she hasn't doesn't a thing to stop him, or left him which seems like the right thing to do.
Get rid of Dan Snyder and then make a decision on a new nickname for the franchise. Let it be a totally fresh start. Their slate can't be clean, but they can and should start over from the top down.
