A lot of talk is happening in the college football world suggesting that Ed Orgeron has one foot out the door in LSU. Coach O himself seems like the kind of guy to be the first to admit the Tigers are not performing up to normal standards after winning the national title in 2019.
The team has lost several games that the folks in Baton Rogue don't just think should be victories, they expect it, and patience does not run deep. Even after an abnormal COVID year, LSU expected to come into this season as a winning program, and it has been a struggle to say the least.
Then, while seemingly in the middle of a downward spiral, LSU got it together to take down Florida in a 49-42 shootout. While the box score won't look good for the defense, the LSU crowd should be walking away with smiles on their face grabbing another W.
So the question comes up of is this enough to buy Coach O another season at the helm? Will the team finish the season strong and people can look to this game as the spark that turned things positive? Will LSU show the same kind of patience they showed Les Miles when he started to fall off?
Short answer: no. We're all smarter than this. Coach O is a wonderful man and a decent football coach, but LSU wants titles... they don't tolerate decent.
