Sam Darnold Has to Be So Happy Right Now

Can you imagine how good Sam Darnold must feel right now? After three years playing for the atrocious New York Jets, Darnold was traded to Carolina, giving him and New York a chance to start over. As the fates would have it, the Panthers were matched up against the Jets to start the 2021 regular season, meaning Darnold didn't even have to wait for a shot at revenge.

Sam when a solid 24/35, for 279 and 1 bomb of a touchdown to another former Jet, Robby Anderson. So not exactly an explosive outing, but when you factor in Darnold throwing no interceptions, a problem that plagued his career in the Big Apple, he's gotta be going into his locker room downright elated. You get a big win in your first start for a new team, it came at the expense of your old team, and you played extremely well based on the expectations most people had for him. That's a pretty perfect day in my eyes.

Oh, and let's not forget that he finally has a dynamic running game with Christian McCaffrey in the backfield. That'll go a long way to help him throughout the whole season.
