It's rare to have two teams both in need a victory in week 2 of the NFL season, especially with a 17 game schedule now. Here we are though, both the Washington Football Team and the New York Giants need a win on Thursday Night Football to keep their season alive. But, more so than the teams, Daniel Jones really needs this win.
The Giants quarterback has been underwhelming after he had his one game flash in the pan that earned him the nick name Danny Dimes. A better nickname for him would have simply been Butterfingers with his apparent love of fumbling the football. And of course, who could possibly forget this:
Daniel Jones needs this win if he wants to remain as the QB of the Giants. Fans in New York are not likely to remain patient with him for long. In fact, it seems that many of them have already tired of him and want to move on.
It won't be good enough to just win the game though; Jones needs to win this in convincing fashion. He'll be going up against a vaunted defensive line from the Football Team and he can use this opportunity to say he can beat the best of the best, even with a porous offensive line. He's got to turn himself into one of those guys who can propel his team forward, instead of being dragged along by his teammates. So far, I haven't seen much to think that he can do that, and it's time that he does.
At the very least he can't afford to get caught by any more turf monsters.
